Wellness Garden Design The Quiet Life
Project Story
Contrast gives The Quiet Life its character. A contemporary entertaining terrace with outdoor kitchen and louvred pergola gives way to a slower woodland-inspired wellness route, where boardwalks, shade planting, a cedar sauna and quiet seating create a restorative garden designed for both gathering and retreat.

The challenge, our solution and our approach
The Challenge
Creating distinct zones for entertaining, relaxation, and wellness within a single garden while ensuring seamless transitions between contemporary and naturalistic spaces, all with the aim of cultivating a beautiful, restful atmosphere throughout.
Our Solution
A masterful zoning strategy using material transitions. Porcelain paving for the formal terrace flows to weathered timber boardwalks through planted areas, finally arriving at the sauna sanctuary. From here, the journey continues up to a secluded yoga deck set amongst the planting. Corten steel provides continuity as raised beds, water features, and step risers, while the lighting scheme unifies all zones at dusk.
In Detail
Our Approach
This 800 sq metre garden in Wrestlingworth, Bedfordshire, is a study in contrasts. The design moves from a contemporary entertaining terrace with louvered pergola and outdoor kitchen to a woodland-inspired wellness zone with a cedar barrel sauna. Every journey through the garden reveals a different atmosphere, yet the whole reads as a single, coherent composition.
Material transitions define the spatial sequence. Porcelain paving on the formal terrace gives way to weathered timber boardwalks through planted areas, before arriving at the sauna sanctuary set among naturalistic planting. Corten steel provides continuity throughout, appearing as raised beds, water features, and step risers. The lighting scheme unifies all zones at dusk, transforming the garden into a dramatically different experience after dark.
We design gardens for the full range of daily life, from morning coffee to evening entertaining and everything in between. If you are considering a garden project in Wrestlingworth or across Bedfordshire, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can help.
